ANNOTATING A SOURCE

Why do we create annotated bibliographies?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Summarise the content

  • Assess the validity and reliability of the source

  • Decide whether the information is relevant to our task/assignment/research

 

 

 

 

Presentation Format

 

  1. Citation (Harvard style)

  2. A short statement that explains the main focus of the piece (1 or 2 sentences)

  3. Short summary of the content, research or theories (intended audiences, research methods, arguments/ideas presented, evidence, conclusion reached)

  4. Consideration whether this research is useful for your task (credibility of author/source, limitations or weakness in argument)

  5. A critical reflection on how this research could fit into your assignment (1 or 2 sentences)

 

 

Writing Style

 

  • Academic language

  • Single paragraph for each

  • Alphabetical order

  • No need to in-text reference

  • Be concise

 

 

Assignment Requirements

 

  • No more than 150 words each

  • Annotate every source you used for the presentation
